Art is a journey, but very rarely do we get to witness the creative evolution. Imagine the conversations that could be explored if we truly understood the artistic process and appreciated the research and experimentation that each artwork entailed?

Works in Progress, a production of the ArtLab at Harvard University, is taking on this challenge.

Works in Progress is a new podcast from the ArtLab at Harvard.

Rarely do we get to witness the creative evolution artist go through while creating their work. Imagine the conversations that could be explored if we better understood the artistic process and appreciated the research and experimentation that each work entailed.

Works in Progress was created to bring the journey of our Artists-in-Residence to you.

My name is Bree Edwards, the host of the podcast. I'm also the director of the ArtLab at Harvard. Join us for conversations about research, inspiration, and collaboration as we speak with visual and performing artists who are grappling with pressing issues of today and transforming ideas into art.

In the first season, we feature guests such as Jordan Weber, a sculptor exploring place, race, and power, and Ayodele Cassell, a tap dancer rooted in the history of rhythm.

At the ArtLab, artists in residence are working beside Harvard students and faculty, such as Claire Chase, Matt Saunders, and Jennifer Roberts. Works in Progress will bring all of these perspectives together, creating a truly holistic look into creation and artistic innovation.

The ArtLab is helping to create the conditions for the Arts to flourish at Harvard. Now you will have an opportunity to look into how it's done.

Look for Works in Progress wherever you listen to your podcasts in January of 2022.
